Veterinary Technician Clinical Internships
The Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine offers unpaid clinical internships to students attending AVMA accredited veterinary technician programs. These students will be assigned to one (or more) licensed veterinary technicians working within the teaching hospital. The students will be involved with a variety of client cases that are evaluated and treated in this state-of-the-art facility. The interns may have the opportunity to become involved in clinical research or teaching projects, depending upon the assigned service.
Duties and Responsibilities
It is the responsibility of the technician intern to show proficiency in the basic technical duties of each rotation assigned. Interns will be expected to participate in the clinic Monday-Friday from 8-5. The LVT supervisor will oversee and evaluate the performance of the interns assigned to their service area. The level of expertise expected by the end of the internship varies with the length of time the intern is assigned to a given rotation.
The length of the internship depends upon the contact hours required by the intern's college of origin.
